They're Here!!!
At last!
All day, I've been checking the feeder. I woke up thinking this was it, that finally, today would be THE day. Last evening I filled and put out a new hummingbird feeder. I left the old one out too, just in case they wouldn't feel comfortable with the shiny new feeder. At 5 pm, it was time to take a break. With a drink in hand and my new IK magazine, I headed out to sit on the deck. Almost immediately, the first male of the season buzzed the feeder.
How about you? Are your feeders out? Check the chart.
Last night was COLD! I kept the heat off in the house and my heated mattress pad on. I'll bet these little buggers wish I'd spent my winter knitting them scarves!

My feeders go up the third week in Feb. The birds were late this year though. None until March 8 then the males only, followed by the females two weeks later. They are draining two big feeders a day now. We only get Rufous, Allens and Annas

Hello,
I am in Maryland,I put a humming bird feeder out yesterday.Had not had one out for several years.
I hung it near my clematis vine ,
Do you think that was a proper spot?
My son says it should be more out in the open, but i thought they were attracted to the clematis and so they would find the necter.
Love to have your in-put.

I've never feed the hummers with a feeder before- just with my garden. May have to give it a whirl.

Lucky! We've had our feeder out for awhile now, and nothing yet. I keep checking, and changing, and checking.

I haven't seen one for sure yet, though I've been so busy I won't have noticed. Enjoyed seeing you, wish I could of spent a little more time talking, but that's not unusual when hosting.

Oh my! It' still very cold here, too. In fact we had snow today and the mountain snow hasn't started to melt as yet! They love our mountains.
