Ooooh, I'm really bad at these kinds of things! Ummm...14??? Ok, that's my final answer, 14.

As a scientist, I ought to identify the species of oak those came from, got out and find specimens of that species, collect acorns, weigh several samples, and average the samples to come up with a good guess.

As a knitter, I'm going to say 34 acorns to a pound. And yes, my swatches are never very big either, how did you guess?

I think 12 acorns per pound. Of course, down here the acorns of the live oaks look more like Greek olives...what do I know? :-)

Dang, I was gonna say 14... so I'll split the difference here and call out 13! I'd love to get my hands on some of those. They're gorgeous.

Hmmm... 31 acorns is my guess. Are you going to make any flour from them?

acorns?? aren't they just itsy bitsy little things? I'm going to guess 175.
hurrah for autumn - its my favorite time of year!

My guess is 142. I always loved the crunchy sound underfoot in the fall when the acorns are down. Last night's rain sure brought down a bit load of them in my area.

32

Those things are huge! Is it wrong of me to hope they land on some little squirrel heads?

I'm guessing 250; they're light aren't they?

I'm guessing 28. If they are as big as they look to me. And, they are huge! Ours are tee-tiny.

I think 18. Nearly an ounce each.

I think acorns are pretty light... maybe 3 grams a piece? So my guess is 151 acorns = 1 pound!

It definitely is "rollerblades out of control" here too! Since yours look a bit on the plump side I'll say 90 acorns in your pound.

What fun!

humm...16 acorns to an ounce, 16 ounces in a lb...that would be 156. yes. 156 acorns to a pound.

did you really count them?

I know I will be way off, but I think 52. I love to watch for acorns when I walk the dog. It's fun to see where they show up when the critters cart them around.

I'm guessing 135. I need to head to the park with lots of oak trees to see some acorns in person.

Since these are extra big, I'll guess . . . lucky 13 acorns per pound. Thanks for the contest!

No acorns around here that I could use to guesstimate, so I'll say -- 178.

My guess would be 15 acorns to a pound. They really do look huge! Can't wait to see the answer - hope you do have internet then.

I'll play - how about 22? Thanks for the contest, what fun. :)

I'm going to go with 89. No reason. Just seems like a good number...

Those acorns look pretty big, I think I will say 32 to a pound.

I'm going to say 30 per lb...b/c I have 20 brussel sprouts in a lb.

I'm saying 40 to a pound.
I agree about the walking hazard. They make lots of noise when they hit things too!

64 acorns per pound. (Laughed at the roller blades.) My driveway is full of crushed corpses.

Well, gee, there's a question I didn't think I would ever be asked. :-) The numbers seem to be running all over the place and if they're as big as chestnuts...hmmmm. I'll go with the unthinkable 25. Them would be some big acorns. :-)

57. Just a WAG.

Hi Judy. How about 77?

I am going to say 102 acorns to make a pound! Fun contest:) sounds like a hard hat might be in order in your neck of the woods.

I vote 33 per pound. I love palindromes.

I'd say 10, as each acorn can well weigh nearly as much as a 50g skein of yarn, they look so big. If I am right, they must hurt a lot when they hit you ! Cheers.

27 acorns to a pound?

I love fall. of course, I don't have to dodge acorns in my yard ....
Linda

If they are the small ones that we had on our oak tree, I would guess around 96?

42

I guess 30. Neat pix - makes a nice still life.

Hi Judy, My guess is 46. Happy Fall!

twenty one acorns to the pound. It is going to be a long winter
